Dragon Ball is a Japanese media franchise created by Akira Toriyama in 1984. The initial manga written and illustrated by Toriyama was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1984 to 1995. Dragon Ball was originally inspired by the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West combined with elements of Hong Kong martial arts films. The series follows the adventures of protagonist Son Goku from his childhood through adulthood as he trains in martial arts. He spends his childhood far from civilization until he meets a teen girl named Bulma who encourages him to join her quest in exploring the world in search of the seven orbs known as the Dragon Balls which summon a wish-granting dragon when gathered. Dragon Ball Z (ドラゴンボールZゼット Doragon Bōru Zetto, commonly abbreviated as DBZ) is the long-running sequel to the anime Dragon Ball. The series is a close adaptation of the second (and far longer) portion of the Dragon Ball manga written and drawn by Akira Toriyama. In the United States, the manga's second portion is also titled Dragon Ball Z to prevent confusion for younger readers.
Dragon Ball Z follows the adventures of the adult Goku who, along with his companions, defends the earth against an assortment of villains ranging from intergalactic space fighters and conquerors, unnaturally powerful androids and near indestructible magical creatures. While the original Dragon Ball anime followed Goku through childhood into adulthood, Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of his adulthood life, but at the same time parallels the maturation of his son, Gohan, as well as other characters from Dragon Ball and more.
Trunks (トランクス Torankusu) is the Earthling and Saiyan hybrid son of Bulma and Vegeta, and the older brother of Bulla.Source:Fandom
